Campus Physical Planning Committee

Overview

o Co-Chaired by the Executive Vice Chancellor/Provost and the Vice Chancellor – Administration

 

o CPPC Advises the Chancellor and the Cabinet regarding facility and project priorities based on broad programmatic and institutional needs

 

o CPPC makes recommendations for land use consistent with the Long Range Development Plan and provides oversight discussion/forum for broad physical planning matters

 

o CPPC reviews information provided by staff and makes recommendations regarding the long range State and Non-State Capital Improvement Programs

 

o CPPC is composed of representatives from a wide range of campus constituencies who are asked to serve with a broad institutional perspective

 

o CPPC receives professional and technical support from several units within Administration, including Capital Planning and Physical Planning, Design & Construction

 

Charge

CPPC advises the Chancellor and the Cabinet regarding capital planning priorities taking into account campus academic instruction and research, student service, utilities-infrastructure and other support needs. The Committee is also charged with monitoring the Long Range Development Plan, other master planning efforts, and the development and implementation of sustainability strategies under the auspices of the Associate Vice Chancellor Physical Planning, Design & Construction.

 

Responsibilities/Functions

 

o The Committee meets quarterly

 

o A schedule is established at the beginning of the academic year each Fall to coincide with the UC Capital Programs cycle

 

o The Campus Architect/Campus Development Officer and the Capital Planning Director establish the annual meeting schedule and organize meeting Agenda Items in coordination with the Committee Co-Chairs

 

o The Campus Planner, Capital Planning Director and Environmental Affairs Director provide technical assistance to the Committee as needed

 

o The Committee periodically reviews the Long Range Development Plan (every two to three years) for continuing appropriateness and applicability

 

o The Committee reviews the Campus State and Non-State Five Year Capital Improvement Programs making recommendations for inclusion of future projects and their relative priority on an annual basis

 

o The Committee reviews landscape design and other physical planning design matters that are large scale and broad in nature
