Message from VC Reese Regarding Salary Increase for Non-represented Staff

May 13, 2014

Colleagues,

As announced by Chancellor Leland in a previous update, UC Merced will implement a 3 percent salary increase program for policy-covered (non-represented) staff for the 2014-15 fiscal year.

This raise, the third in the past four years for non-represented staff, underlines leadership’s commitment to a regular, predictable salary program as a way of recognizing and thanking you for your hard work and dedication to our great campus. It will also help to offset the 1.5 percent increase in employee contributions to the UC Retirement Plan (UCRP), effective July 1 for current employees in the 1976 Tier of UCRP.

For most employees, the increase will appear in the July 16 paycheck if you are paid biweekly, or in the Aug.  1 paycheck if you are paid monthly.  Some contract staff are also eligible, depending on their status and contract terms. Those ineligible for the increase include represented staff, those with limited or academic appointments and student/casual restricted employees. Employees with less than satisfactory performance evaluations, employees on performance improvement plans and employees on probation are also ineligible.

If you have questions about salary increase eligibility, please contact HR’s Compensation office at comp@ucmerced.edu. If you have questions about UCRP employee contributions, please contact HR’s Benefits office at benefits@ucmerced.edu.

Best regards,

Michael Reese
