Capital Planning and Space Management

The Capital Planning and Space Management Office works with senior administration to manage the State and Non-State Capital Improvement Programs and works closely with Physical Planning and Facilities Management to identify project scope, schedule and budget for minor and major capital improvement projects.

This includes renovations, alterations and new construction for a wide variety of instruction, research and infrastructure projects. The Office communicates with the Office of the President regarding capital project approvals. The Capital Planning and Space Management Office is responsible for:

  • space planning and communicating space standards
  • developing project justifications and documentation
  • providing space utilization and funding analyses
  • preparing Project Planning Guides (PPGs)
  • preparing Detailed Project Plans (DPPs)
  • managing Building Advisory Committees on behalf of the campus.

This is a facilities data base that includes a directory of 15 buildings on the Merced Facilities Link website. Included are project summaries, photographs, list of room, types of rooms, room numbers, department, program, and other space related information use by facilities managers, design and construction and planning offices on campus. Access requires a user I.D. and password.
